Boarding the 8-vehicle-ferry to Jumièges. The van in the photo was not allowed to board due to its size. 
Efficient is the best word to describe the Jumièges ferry. In under 3 minutes we were across the Seine River.

Tony is back in business as he has recovered fully from his virus. Ready for a cycle, but joking that he wears this hat on his rides. 
So much mistletoe in the trees in this area. 
Tracey loves her cows. These sweeties thought we were going to feed them. before the middle one (which Tracey has named Donald) started ramming and bullying the others with its horns. 
More 1/2 timbered houses in this area similar to what we saw in the ALsace region of France. 
Jumièges Abbey is quite beautiful. View from outside the walls. 46-metre-high twin towers surround the Romanesque façade of the building. 
Jumièges Abbey was a Benedictine monastery which had over 1000 monks living there. 
One of the oldest and most important monasteries in France. 
This arch was massive. Overall, the abbey had a very peaceful and sacred feelings about it. It was the perfect day for a visit. 
One of 2 Carolingian churches on the property. 
The property also includes a 15-hectare English-style park including 3 terraces of edible gardens.

Distance Driven on Leg/Trip (km): 116
Weather/Temperature (°F): Lovely cool weather with highs during the day around 70°F, but overnight down around 48°F. We are once again using (electric) heat at night.
Road Conditions: This route took us on toll A roads, N roads, D roads and even smaller “Rue” roads through the communes. Our Fulli toll pass is working like a champ on the toll roads and saves us from having to gets tickets or in this part of France paying on the SANEF website for numerous free flowing tolls. We took a free ferry on a 8-vehicle-ferry across the Seine River. The ferry worker waved off the slightly larger van waiting in line in front of us, but allowed us to drive Chickpea on the ferry. The detour for this other van was 35 km so we are glad we were able to take the ferry.
Chickpea Mechanical Status: Everything is working fine. The “Add Coolant Urgently” light has not returned, but we are still trying to source the proper coolant which meets Mercedes specifications. We thought it would be easy, but it seems most places only have universal coolant and the specs do not match up to what we need. Tony thinks he has found a source for it in town we will pass through in a few days.
Highlights:
- We took 2 lovely long walks along the Seine River and into the French countryside. The routes were very peaceful and few other people were present. There are not many tourists in town as it is still shoulder season so we mainly had everything to ourselves. Our campground only had a half dozen other campers while we were there.
- Jumièges Abbey was in walking distance from our campground. Although it is now a ruin, there is still several portions which are intact which allowed us to visualize what it looked like. It is a very beautiful ruin. It was founded in 654 and has had a long history of damage and resurrection. In addition to the abbey, there is a Carolingian church and English gardens. It was well preserved and worth the visit.
- Tony is now fully recovered from his virus and he is back to his normal energy level. Daily road bike rides have resumed along with daily baguette 🥖 binges.
Lowlights:
- While we really liked our small family run campsite and it’s shady location, the birds pooped dozens of times all over our van. We need to find a carwash soon.
