This sunset was the most beautiful sunset we have ever seen. This is how it looked…no filters or modification.
Where is Waldo? Oh, there you are cute puppy!
Many loose (but friendly) dogs and cats in the city. This adorable trio greeted us on one of our morning walks.
Pulmonias are available throughout the city as an alternative to taxis. A Mazatlán exclusive.
Beautiful, colorful houses in Old Town Mazatlán

Pickleball has made its way to Mazatlán! Next time we will bring our paddles.
Sidewalks are quite uneven so we ended up walking in the street most of the time
Mazatlán was preparing for Carnival. This years theme is “Celestial”. It has the 3rd largest celebration in the world.
Colorful houses in El Quelite. It was a very quint town with cobblestone streets.
We hiked up to El Faro Mountain to see this iconic lighthouse which is the highest natural lighthouse in the world.
Tracey walking on the glass bridge high above the ocean. It did feel a bit scary but we did it anyway.
Glass bridge which cantilevers over the edge of the mountain. Cost $2/per person.
Gorgeous coastline in Mazatlán
Views from our hike. It was a 0.5 mile hike at a moderate slope and then 336 steps to reach the top.

Enjoying an early Birthday celebration for Valerie at La Marea. Cupcake, fruity shot and a sparkler completed the evening.
Good-bye Mazatlán. Thanks for a great trip.
Hello Arizona! We were greeted by yet another incredible sunset upon arrival home.
Tony and I took a trip to visit my cousin John and Valerie Stodden who winter in Mazatlán, Mexico. We packed in a lot for a short trip including attending a concert in the beautifully restored 19th century Angela Peralta Theater with 13 string musicians who showcased the different regional musical styles of Mexico, a car tour narrated by John and Valerie of Old Town and the Malecon which is an oceanfront seawall promenade, a day trip to El Quelite, a small rural town known for its cobblestone streets and brightly colored houses, a hike up El Faro Mountain to see the iconic lighthouse which is the highest natural lighthouse in the world which also included a side trip to walk on the glass bridge cantilevering off the edge of the same mountain and 157 meters above the ocean, a tour of Observatorio 1873 Museum which is part restored military outpost, part bird sanctuary and part garden all connected by a funicular cable car. Additionally, there were numerous urban hikes to explore the city and markets on foot, tasty meals including one with fantastic views overlooking the ocean and city in the distance, 2 of the most beautiful purple and fuchsia sunsets we have ever seen, Valerie’s birthday celebration and lots of in-person catching up, sharing of Wordle strategies and, of course, much laughter. If you have never considered visiting Mazatlán, add this to your list as it has a walkable historic area along with miles and miles of beaches. It does not feel “touristy” like Cabo as many of the foreigners (mainly Canadians with some Americans) come to Mazatlán for the entire winter and not just for a few days or weeks. All in all, a great trip! Thanks John and Valerie for hosting us, we enjoyed every minute of this trip!
